Announcements on 4/28/08

1. The quality review will be on Monday, May 12th.
2. We are now in the final marking period of the 2007-2008 school year.
3. Dr. Izquierdo and Mr. Epstein will be visiting our school on Friday, May 2nd.
4. AIS should be addressing the lowest third.
5. There is a UFT Consultation meeting on Tuesday during 7th period.
6. The school-wide disciplinary meeting will be held on Thursday after school in room 433.
7. There will be a professional development on the Acuity website from 2pm to 4pm on the 28th. If you are interested in participating, please let me know as soon as possible.
8. Construction on the playground has begun. Please note that the fire exits will remain the same. Make sure students are properly directed in case of a fire or any other type of emergency.
9. Thank you to Ms. Negron for organizing the NFL trip. The pictures look great! Thank you to the staff members who were able to join them: Ms. Kathy, Mr. Foley, Mr. Mezan, Mr. Allen, and Ms. Baitz-Unger (I apologize if I missed anyone).
10. There is an SLT meeting during 3rd period on the 28th of April.
11. Any students going on a class trip must be in dress code or they should not be permitted to go.
12. We have several interviews set up for potential positions for next year. If you are interested in participating in the selection process, please see me or e-mail.
13. There will be a meeting after school on Tuesday, April 29th, to discuss the possibilities of how to use the Monday PD period. All School Improvement Team members are encouraged to attend to continue building what has been put together.
14. There is a School Leadership Meeting on Monday at 9:45 to 10:30 and from 3:30 to 5:30 after school.
15. We had our highest attendance for the day before break last Friday. We need to continue with campaigning the importance of coming to school on these type of days.
16. Patricia McCormick will be visiting on Tuesday this week around 12:30 in Ms. Kathy’s room. She is an author has been brought in to work with our students through the Behind the Books partnership.
17. St. Regis High School has decided to partner with us next year to set up a big brother campaign and tutors to join our classrooms. We are still exploring additional ideas to place the 100 potential candidates can support JHS 13.
18. Con Edison will be donating shirts and other equipment to our school because of our participation in the Earth Day Event.
19. Special thanks to Ms. Levene and Ms. Negron for chaperoning the students at the Earth Day Event sponsored by The League and Con Edison.
20. Any students out of dress code should be recorded in the binder. Please let them know they will be required to attend detention after school.
21. There will be a representative from the Mayor’s Office visiting our classrooms on Tuesday starting around 10:30.
22. The 8th Grade Science Test is on Wednesday in the morning.
