Jacob Scott and Will Minggia for their relentless efforts to get our students ID’s in place. They expect every child to have one by the end of this upcoming week.
Mr. Okon for his exciting lesson he executed on Thursday with class 631. The students were engaged and the writing process forced the students to put their observations on paper.
The attendance committee for the hard work in making history at J13 by getting the attendance over 90% twice in the month of September. We never had more than 33 students absent in one day the entire week. This still includes a “no-show” list of over 12 students.
Mr. Tatum, Mr. Foley, Ms. Terri, Ms. Schenk, Ms. Hilda, Ms. Word, Ms. Vega, Ms. Scott, Ms. McKinley, Mr. Seeram, Mr. Mezan, Ms. Unger-Baitz, Ms. Quiambao, Ms. Alicia, and Dr. Phelps (I apologize if I missed anyone) for attending the Opening of our Playground
Mr. Lieberman, the high school principal, for his hard work in turning our blacktop nightmare into a colorful and exciting new place.
Dr. Phelps for her incredible patience and commitment in working with the Graffiti Wall of Fame to get our playground walls looking the best ever.
Ms. Doles for keeping up with her rigorous schedule and making sure that our students are supervised at all times when going to and from the gym.
Mr. Mezan for organizing the trip to attend Justin Tuck’s Literacy initiative, connecting sports to literacy.
Ms. Schenk for filling in as IEP Teacher and supporting the Special Education Department.
Ms. Word and Dr. Phelps for getting such a great turn out from our parents at the opening of our playground.
Mrs. Julie Zuckerman, the principal of the elementary school, for inviting us to visit her school. The visit was a great learning experience. We are in the process of setting up another visit for our 6th grade team to possibly incorporate an expeditionary learning curriculum to enhance our community involvement.
Ms. Word for going beyond her position to help out several staff members to set up their room and making the signs for our classrooms and offices.
Ms. Mayers, Ms. Schenk, Jacob Scott, Will Minggia, and Ms. Vargas for pausing on their own agenda to help out others.
Ms. Quiambao and Mr. Foley for experimenting with their classrooms to incorporate the turn-and-talk
Mr. Ciano and Mr. Foley for setting up a stronger and more organized SAVE room this year
Ms. Selina and Mr. Ciano for helping to organize the parking situation
Ms. Selina, after missing two days for her brother-in-law's wedding (Woohoo!), she quickly caught up with the rest of the school due to her hard work and dedication.
Ms. Blanding, for all that has taken place over the last five months, she still comes into work with a bright smile on her face and she is extremely helpful.
